KITCHENER — Conservative MPP Michael Harris met with residents of a Kitchener retirement home on Wednesday to share his concerns about the government’s planned changes to physiotherapy for seniors.

He passed out a petition urging Queen’s Park to reverse the decision he says eliminates OHIP-funded physiotherapy for people living in retirement and nursing homes.

“We’ll hopefully put enough pressure on the government to rethink these changes,” Harris told the group gathered at The Village of Winston Park.

However, Health Minister Deb Matthews strongly criticized the Kitchener-Conestoga MPP’s claim.

“Michael Harris is wrong, and he is unfortunately raising fear among seniors. And I just think that is wrong,” Matthews said in a phone interview.
